"I do have my uncle John Henry Hartman, went by Henry, that settled in
Findley, Hancock, Ohio. Henry died there in September 1877. Two of Henry
brothers Isaac and Simon live for awhile in Ohio before going on to
Kosciusko County, Indiana. Henry had a brother by the name of Jacob
Hartman, the only thing that I know about him is that he was born about
1794 in Pa. and died sometime around 1860 on Indiana. All of henry
brothers and sisters were born in Westmoreland County, Pa. I know nothing
about a couple of his sisters or brothers, or where they went or settled at."
I have a Louvina (Lovina) HARTMAN as second wife of John NORRIS in Hancock
Co., OH. Married 26 April 1853. She died 2 Sep 1873, age 56y 1m 11d and
is buried in Indian Green Cemetery, just west of Findlay - I've seen the
place. She was mother of Ambrose, Urban (Irbin), and Semilda - I have some
more info on them. In the Hancock Co., OH 1860 census for Portage Twp. a
Margaret HARTMAN, age 73, is living with John and Louvina NORRIS - assume
to be the mother. I do not yet have her burial located, nor do I know any
other details. The 1850 and 1860 Hancock census lists a David HARTMAN, age
46 in 1850-born PA with wife Rebecca and children Lydia, Philip, Mary A.,
Lewis, and Hannah. Could David be an older brother of Louvina? There is
an 1865 Hancock Co. will for David HARTMAN listing son Lewis and daughters
Elizabeth SWISHER, Mary Jane SWISHER, Hannah HARTMAN, Sarah ALSPACH and
grandchildren George Washington ALSPACH, Sarah ALSPACH, and Solena Ellen
ALSPACH. Will in Findlay Public Library Roll 1, Book 3, 1829-1884, W-1865,
page 70. It seems that earlier NORRIS and related KEARNS as well as
HARTMAN may all have been in Westmoreland and/or Washington Co., PA....have
some more details.
Nancy Jane NORRIS, daughter of John NORRIS by first wife, Sarah CLARK,
married Andrew J. ANDERSON in Kosciusko Co 27 Apr, 1853. John's son, Noah
Anthony Wayne NORRIS, settled in Fulton Co., IN in 1866. He is my ggf.
I hope this helps other listers and may lead to a connection. Happy hunting!
