Hi Janet and Brenda,
This is very confusing. My husband and I are now trying to figure out if we
are like 13th cousins . My Cora"s parents must have been the two married in
1845 that date is about right. Cora and William were my g grandparents.
Now about George and Elizabeth Plasterer my husbands family. While still in
his early teens George's parents moved to Franklin Co. Pa. it was near
Shippensburg he married Elizabeth, daughter of John and Catherine (Gehr
) Snyder. Elizabeth b. 28 Nov. 1806 in Berks Co. Pa. In 1839 George
Plasterer came west with other members of his wifes family . they settled in
Richland Co. Oh near Lexington then on to Morrow Co. near Mt. Gilliad, then
Union Twp. HuntingtonCo. In.
Elizabeth died 8 Aug. 1883 They had 12 Children.
Brenda how are you tied to Cora and William? I would love any information
you have on the Menzies, Kerrs Or McClellans. I will try to scan the obit of
Cora it has her picture also. I have not used my scanner yet so have
patience.

Hi Jackie and Brenda,
You are in riches by having Elizabeth Snyder who married William Kerr
claimed by two Snyder families.
There were two different generations of Elizabeth Snyders who married
two
different William Kerrs: one William Kerr (1791-1864) was married in
1838
to
Elizabeth Snyder b.c.1795. This is apparently the couple I found in
the
1850 census. (see the on line Snyder Database)
The other couple, Elizabeth Snyder/William Kerr, was married in 1845.
Haven't located this couple in the census.
One of the younger Elizabeths was b.1825 (according to one version) to
Henry
Snyder and Elizabeth Shelton
The other Elizabeth Snyder (married in 1845) is attributed to John B. &
Mary Snyder of Jackson Twsp. The Jackson Twp family was definitely from
Cumberland and John may very well turn out be the oldest brother of Henry
and the oldest child of Conrad Snyder.
I think that it would be well worth while if the three of you worked to
resolve the problem. It is a challenge. And the stuff that is the fun part
of genealogy.
The reason I set up the database is to enable those with Snyder ancestors
to
work with others to sort everyone out. There is contradictory
information
floating around but I think that with everyone pitching in, it is a
manageable objective.
Interestingly the copy of the 1950 letter I just received has differences
in
it. It was written by a Mrs. Guiles Flower who stated that her great
grandmother, Elizabeth (Snyder) Plasterer, wife of George was the sister
of
the above William Snyder (/Elizabeth "Shetron") and
daughter of Conrad
though the Bible Record recently posted to the Cumberland site doesn't
show
Conrad having any daughter Elizabeth.
The Plasterer family is said to have moved to Richland OH in 1839 but I
couldn't find them in 1850. If someone can find Elizabeth Plasterer, I'll
include her in the database.
Perhaps one of you could find these folks in the 1850 census. I'm posting
female Snyders as such and listing their husband's surname in blue in the
database.
I noticed that the name Cockley keeps popping up. Conrad Snyder's wife
Catherine ( buried New Castle) is said to be a Cockley!
Janet
(I'm not even a Snyder descendant but my Cumberland PA family sure married
them)
Hi Janet,
I have not yet had time to research this line of my ancestors but I have a
Cora Alice Kerr b. 1864 M. William Menzie and her obit. states her
mother
and father were William and Elizabeth Snyder Kerr. Just wondering if
my
Elizabeth Snyder Kerr could be related to your Henry? She died in Whitley
Co.

buried in Summit Cem. in Whitley Co. IN.
