Saw this in an old newspaper and found it so detailed to be unusual. Hope
it is helpful to someone.

WILL PROBATED: $63,000; Guy estate is opened
The will and two codicils of Eliza Ann Guy, who died at Mentone Sept. 1
(1943) have been admitted to probate in circuit court and her estate, valued
at $63,000, has been opened, with Vere Kelley and Lewis Erwin qualifying as
executors. The will was made Dec. 18, 1937; one codicil was executed Dec.
6, 1938, and the other Dec. 1, 1942.
Personal property of the estate is valued at $30,000 and real estate at
$33,000.
Heirs listed are a sister, Cora Erwin, of Bourbon; three nieces, Mary M.
Shafer, of Chicago, Mary H. Conrick, Wheeler, Ind., and Lura E. Leonard,
North Liberty; and a nephew, John H. Conrick. Many specific bequests of
cash and personal property are made in the will.
To the sister goes the contents of a safety deposit box at the Farmers'
State Bank, Mentone, including bonds in an envelope, and any personal
effects she desires regardless of other provisions of the will.
Mary Shafer is bequeathed $1,000. A one-twelfth share in the residue of the
estate goes to Mary E. Cornick. From a one-sixth share grandnieces and
grand nephews Mary Elizabeth and I. J. Leonard are to receive $500 each and
the other grand nieces and grand nephews $300 each. If the sixth share is
not sufficient for this, the amounts are to be prorated. If the sixth share
permits, $500 sums from it are to go to John H. Cornick and wife and Lura E.
Leonard and husband, the balance of the sixth, if any, to be divided between
the grand nieces and grand nephews.
John Conrick and Lura Leonard are to receive enough in addition to the $500
bequests to pay for their homes, provided the money is applied in this way.
The one who gets the smallest total will receive an additional amount to
equalize things. Mary Conrick is also to receive --in addition to here
$1,000 --an amount equal to the extra bequest to John Conrick.
Three Trust Funds
The Farmers' State Bank is made trustee of a $1,000 fund, interest of which
will go to the upkeep of certain family graves in the Mentone cemetery, a
$200 fund, interest to go to the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society
auxiliary of the Methodist church of Mentone, and a $500 fund, interest to
go to the Methodist church, Mentone.
Clothing and jewelry not otherwise bequeathed goes to the nieces.
Other specific bequests go to the following: Stella Alcoke, an employee,
$100; Earl Beason, $100; Lenore Alleman Briggs, Greencastle, $500 and
certain personal effects; Daisy Erwin Stevenson, Frankfort, $1,000 and
personal effects; $200 to be applied on Mentone Methodist church debt; Myrl
Guy New, Pendleton, $200, and personal property.
Three-quarters of the residue of the estate is to be divided among 16
legatees, with Mary A. Kist, of Cleveland, O., to get a double amount. Only
her share in this special group would go to her children in event she no
longer survives, the others lapsing. The 15 legatees are: R. A. Guy,
Pendleton, C. A. Guy, Muncie, Sarah Townsley, Pendleton, Martha Belle Craft,
Anderson, Ella L. Brannan, Albion, Ill., Amy G. Minier and Dollie G.
Goodlad, New Richmond, Wis., Lillian G. Drake, St. Paul, Minn., Susie
Gerard, Bourbon, Lucinda Jones, Mentone, Leona Haimbaugh, Mentone, Homer E.
Blue, Mentone, Julia E. Nelson, Kokomo, Wert Blue, Fort Wayne, and Vance
Murphy, Huntington.
Legatees shall have the chance to purchase household effects not otherwise
bequeathed or claimed. The remainder shall go to the Salvation Army. There
is to be no public sale of household goods.
