I'm trying to get through a brick wall. My gg-grandfather was George Barr. He was
probably born in Pennsylvania circa 1826 and moved to Ohio (Richland County?) as a child.
His father's name was Samuel Barr, and his grandfather was David Barr (perhaps born in
Ireland). George married Susan Smith. Susan's father was David Smith who may have
been originally from Bedford County, Pennsylvania. George Barr bought his first farm in
1850 in Kosciusko County, Indiana. He is listed in the 1850 census in Kosciusko County
with Reason A. Ross and his wife, Susan Ross. Susan Ross' maiden name was Susan Barr.
She is shown in the 1850 census as having been born in Germany. Reason Ross and Susan
Barr were married in Richland County, Ohio on December 8, 1842. George Barr and Susan
Smith had three sons - David, Samuel, and John. David was born March 9, 1857 in Richland
County, Ohio. Samuel was born May 30, 1858, and John was born in 1860. The family was
back in Kosciusko County i!
n time to be listed there in the 1860 census. George Barr died February 22, 1879; and
Susan Smith Barr died December 14, 1869. They are buried in Nichols Cemetery, Franklin
Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana.
Does anyone see a connection between the above clues and information they may have? I am
trying to find anything I can regarding George Barr and Susan Smith, their ancestors and
possible siblings.
Thanks for your help.
