Hello Knox County listers:
is anyone on the list familiar with the area of the white river called
Kellys Ripple? My great grandfather and family were river folk who lived on area
rivers in KY IN and IL. in the 1900s-40s. I have a letter where my uncle
is talking about hitting kellys Ripple and the houseboat nearly capsizing &
my grandmother falling overboard her little red dress was how they spoted
her and they pulled her back in the boat.
He launched his boat in Edwardsport.IN
Just curious to see the area perhaps photos.
Im not too far but that would be a warmer weather trip LOL!
thanks for any input
Dianne
I just called my stepdad who grew up at Edwardsport and is an avid fisherman and he had
never heard of it before. He said that area is more of a sand bottom and a ripple denotes
a rock bottom area of the river. He did say that if he were to guess a good rock bottom
area of the river is around Wheatland and he knows an old fisherman who lives in that area
whom he is going to call and ask.
Andrea
