Hello! I was lucky to find a small article about the death of my great-great
grandmother in the Vicennes Weekly Western Star. Her death was very
suspicious and her husband had lost his first wife in a " horrible manner" as
well. I
think the community was wondering about him.
When I was looking for information about her death I was told that
there was usually not an obit unless the person was prominent in the
community. Also there were no death certificates in the 1870's, but you might try the
cemetery books. I have found the folks at the Knox County Public Library to
be a world of help in my research. You can find their contact information on
the Knox County web site. I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Helen Benham
