Pam,
While there are probate records at Lewis you should spend your morning at
the Knox County Records Library, where most all of the county records are
located. Brian Spangle runs it and the KCPL-History Dept. The Records
Library is off Broadway (down the alley between 8th and 9th streets and
behind the KC Jail on 8th street).

research visit

I am planning a research visit to Vincennes Monday-Thursday, June 11th -
14th.
I have written Richard King, who informs me that the Lewis Library is
staffed
from 1 to 4 each afternoon.
I would like to confirm the connection between William F. Williams, born Ft.
Knox, 1803 and his father (hopefully), Francis Williams. I believe there is
a
probate record and possibly a court record of Francis. I have an old family
letter and some newspaper articles with stories of the family's move from
Knox
to Sullivan, then Greene, and finally, Owen County, Indiana. I've worked my
way
back to the Sullivan-Knox connections.
I would appreciate any suggestions from those of you familiar with Knox
County
records. I want to make good use of my time -- splitting it between
Sullivan
and Knox if necessary. Hopefully, Pam
