Jim,
Do you have an approximate age for John Collins or anymore information about
him? I don't know whether he ties into the Collins family I am researching
or not.
Briefly, here is what I'm trying to prove: Rebecca Collins (b: 1810, KY),
dau. of Jacob & Elizabeth (?) Collins married 1) Tarton (sp?) SMITH in 1828,
Harrison Co, IN (my line) and 2nd: George Cromer in 1837, Washington Co, IN.
She is found on the 1850 Harrison Co, IN census as a widow again. A Jacob,
son (my line) is listed among others living with her. She is living
in-between her mother, Elizabeth Collins and a brother, James Collins.
Supposedly, Jacob & Elizabeth Collins had 6 daus. & 3 sons (I do not have
them all yet.) Rebecca's sister, Feraba (Febe) b: abt. 1805, KY, md. Cyrus
Polson, 1825, Harrison Co, IN. The Polsons were in Washington Co (Posey
twp) 1855-56, and Davies Co, IN (Washington twp) by 1860. Cyrus is said to
have purchased bottom land on the West Fork of the White River. In 1865 he
sold out and moved to Oregon. Febe died in IN.
Rebecca (Collins) Smith Cromer moved with some of her children to the Davies
Co, IN area ... her son and my ancestor, Jacob C. Smith, owned a farm in
Knox Co. I know she stayed with Jacob and his family quite a bit (my
gr-Aunt knew her as a very young girl.) She died in 1900 in Davies Co and
is buried at the Maysville Cem. along with many of the SMITHs. As you know,
Maysville Cem is very close to the Davies-Knox Co. line.
Does anything sound familiar? I do have more information to share if you'd
like.

Subject: Collins - Perkins
I'm seeking more information on Caroline Collins who married Alvin Perkins
on November 7, 1861 in Knox County ( Book F, Page 167)
Was she the widow of John Collins?
I am also interested in the Edward L Collins (age 20) listed on the 1880
census ( page 522 d, Palmyra) with the household of Henry M Simpson.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
