All records from Lewis Library will eventually be moved to "The Brockman
Building" next to the public library in Vincennes, Indiana. The Historical
Collection from the public library and the court records will also be moved to the
Brockman Building. As soon as the re-molding is done on this historical site that the
Public Library has purchased for these records. There will be adequate parking in the
old funeral home parking lot and the hour should be the same as the Public Library hours,
if this is not correct, someone can correct me on this.
I was in the Lewis Library towards the end of February and Donna Beeson was still working
that day. So do not know the correct story there. I was there that day from 10 a.m.
till around 3 p.m. researching and she did not close the library for lunch.
Just an update for Knox County researcher's. I do volunteer work for the Knox County
Public Library in the Historical Collection Department.

Subject: Lewis Library
Hello,
I was at Bicknell last week and was informed by the librarian in Bicknell that the Lewis
library was going to be open 1p to 4p Monday thru Friday. This information was also
published in The Independent, the Bicknell Newspaper. I understand that Donna Beeson was
retired with 29 years of service due to financial cutbacks of Vincennes University. The
genealogy portion of the Lewis Library is to be moved into a nearby building that was
Brubaker Funeral Home. Eventually, I was told, plans are to relocate court records and
other information located around the city to this one location.
Brian Spangler, is another name that could perhaps give more information about the Lewis
Library.
I have not spoke directly with anyone in Vincennes.......just word of mouth!
