looking and taking that much time.
Part of my line still lived in that area when the Civil War started and served
throughout the war. One of those, a Sampson Hinds, moved west to join his family who had
moved during the war. He studied law and was a Judge in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). My
direct line had moved into White and Jasper County, Indiana. My great grandfather and a
couple of his brothers served in the war from there. My great grandfather was captured in
Hatterus Sound and spent some time in Libbey Prison. He later served in the western
campaign that took him to Vicksburg and the last year of the war found him going on a long
hike down south with a man named Sherman.

Since I had been looking for Hinds since you said you were searching for
more information I had already checked, there are no Hinds of any variation on
the list.
My family are not listed as original members, but some married descendants
and so are connected thru that.
