Antoinette,
One of my husband'd GG-grandmother's was Jane Johnson. Her sister Martha
married Daniel Ponsler Jr. son of Daniel Ponsler & Katherine Ungrer.
I've only recently started any research into the Ponsler line and I
haven't been able to find Daniel in the 1860 census or been able to find a
death date or place for either Daniel Sr. or Katherine.
I was able to find the following information concerning Daniel Ponsler &
family.( source: Jenning Co. Indiana, submitted by Martin Baldwin)
"Daniel Ponsler Sr. was born in Pennsylvania in 1796. His family moved to
Preble Co. Ohio when he was a child. He married Katherine Ungrer on 3
September 1818 and made his living as a farmer. Their children were
Abraham, Elizabeth, Sarah, Catherine, Daniel Jr,Mary, Rebecca, twins
Joshua & Jermiah and Noah.
About 1839 he moved to Zenas ( Indiana) where he purchased 2 lots in the
Southwest corner of the town plat. Soon afterwards he moved to a farm on
the Decatur Co. line four miles Northwest of Zenas.
Abraham married Catherine Embry. Jeremiah & Noah also married and all
three raised families in Columbia Twp.
Elizabeth married ( 28 March1841) Charles Embry & moved to the St. Paul
neighborhood in Decatur Co,
Daniel Jr. married ( 15 November 1849) Martha Johnson & moved to Cicero,
north of Indianapolis.
Mary married ( 18 October 1846) Rueben Shattuck
Joshua died in Anderson Prision during the Civil War ( incorrect- see my
notes)
Sarah & Catherine never married and lived out their lives in Columbia Twp.
After his wife died Daniel Sr. married on19 October 1865 Charity Warner.
Daniel apparently died sometime shortly after 1872, but little information
has come to light concerning his fate or that of his wife Katherine."
NOTES on Joshua
