A few years ago I was sent a legal document (Indictment Record) involving a
John WAUCHTEL against a William A. SULFIN (this name is hard to decipher).
This was sent to me from a lady in Jennings County who knew I was
researching my family name WAUGHTEL and that they were from Jennings County
(Geneva Township). I hesitated at the time of transcribing it for my own
family website, but today have been checking the census records for the time
frame, and there are no WAUCHTEL named persons, and the witnesses,
prosecuting attorney, etc., are all on the 1870 census for Jennings County,
SO at the moment I am going on the theory that this could, in fact, be my
great grandfather John WAUGHTEL as a young man approximately 18/19 years and
would appreciate it immensely if anyone has any knowledge of this - the
document was returned and filed in open Court April 3, 1872. From family
"lore" my great grandfather John WAUGHTEL was termed as a "no-good".
