Antoinette,
I will be in Vernon Tuesday morning and plan to spend some time at the
Jennings County Health Department. While I'm there, I will look up this
death for you. The Jennings County death records begin in 1882, but are not
complete for the early years. Many times the death occured in a rural area
and was not reported. I can get all the information for no charge; however,
if you require a certified copy of the death certificate, the health
department has a $10.00 charge. I'll let you know what I find.
Certificates of death are usually available from both the county of death
and the Indiana State Board of Health.

Subject: [INJENNIN] 1899 certificate of death
Would a certificate of death be available for Jennings County in 1899
at
all? I have a copy of a cemetery page index indicating Sarah Ponsler, age
76, died May 16, 1899. If she died as Sarah Ponsler, then, she was
unmarried, and a daughter of Daniel Ponsler & wife Catherine nee' Unger.
Does anyone have information on them? If a certificate of death would be
available where might I write for a copy of same.
Thank you.
