Of course keep posting to this list, someone on here may have the
information you are looking for that can be found no place else.
Just to cut down the confusion for me; Plus let the Library know how much
interest there is in Local Genealogy - If you have a Library related request
for a look up please send that to
_Sheila.Kell(a)jenningslib.org_ (mailto:Sheila.Kell@jenningslib.org)
The Library has Newspapers on Microfilm but some of the early ones are
missing or not readable. Anything from 1860's to current should be there. Dates
are very important, as not many things are indexed. It also has an
obituary card file, also not complete but pretty good.
Church Histories - Mostly on Microfilm.
It also has index's to some Courthouse Records, Cemetery Lists (some pretty
good, some you can do better on Find a Grave).
Family Histories donated by the author's to the Library. I will try to get
a list of those up on here.
Local Histories, very good for background or lifestyle information on your
ancestors. Again I will try and get a list of those. Of course not everyone
is mentioned but they could be. Many of these are by Township.
Index to marriage records - another list to be put up.
I am working on getting a list that is easy to access up on the Library Web
site of the bulk of their holdings.
You can search Evergreen Indiana Catalog for the Jennings County Public
Library, and use your surname to see if a Family History comes up, it is just
a little difficult to sort through all the possible things that do show.
More Later as I get organized.
