Here goes my request for information from others. I have a number of
Ayers/Ayres who lived in Jennings County. The first one to move there was John
Ayers who was born in 1789 in New Jersey, lived until about 1830 in Cincinnati,
Ohio when he moved to Jennings County. He was married in 1813 in Cincinnati to
Sarah Ann Ward. John died in 1871 in Jefferson County and is buried in Paris
in Jennings County, Sarah is also buried in Paris. They had 7 children most
of whom were born in Ohio, Lewis, George, Milton, Benjamin,Joseph, Isaac
Newton and Mary Jane. Isaac Newton had a daughter named Ophelia who married a
Joseph Roseberry in 1885 in Vernon. I would like to find out more about Joseph &
Ophelia.
There was at least one other Ayers family in the area, in Graham Township,
Jefferson County and I have a feeling my Joseph and Nathanial Ayers born 1804
in Massachusetts are related but have not been able to make the connection.
Nathanial married Sarah Roseberry in 1841 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He
married a second time and I do not have a name for his second wife. He died in
Adair County, Missouri.
Does anyone have anything on these folks?
Sheila
