Jerermiah Walker is shown on the 1850 census of Hancock Co, IN, in the
household of Isaac Hendrix age 79, b NC. Jeremiah was a carpenter and very likely
was on a job there, along with another young man, John Skimerhorn age 17.
There were Schermerhorns living in Morgan Co, IN which was just two counties
SW of Hancock Co. Jeremiah's home was in Jennings Co, IN and so was the home
of his wife's parents.
Jeremiah first married Jane Bradt b NY, and after she died (or they
divorced) he mar. Lucretia McLaughlin. Does anyone know whether there was a marriage
between a Hendrix/Hendricks and Bradt or between a Walker and Hendrix. The
Schermerhorns and Bradts were in NY several generations before Jeremiah and
Jane's marriage. I am especially interested in how these people all happened
to be living in the same household, other than the fact that they may have
been doing carpentry work. There was even a 10 year old Isaac Hendrix who may
have been apprenticed to any of the three older men.
Anyone with information to share on the above families would be most
appreciated.
