Mike,
Before I E-mail Denise, I wanted to make sure I understood which county she
served. I suspect is Decatur, but not sure, and also didn't know if I was
supposed to supply names, or did she send the whole index.
Thanks,
Emerson

Emerson:
It's an index of deaths in alphabetical order. Seymour library has one. I
use it to get exact dates of deaths. Then, I get the film of newspaper
articles for that date and look up and copy the obituaries from the paper.
I
have found all my ancestor's obits except three. The great flood
of 1937
ruined the back issues of the Seymour newspaper from 1888 to 1899. The
ancestors I wanted, died in 1895 and 1896. What a shame. I'm sure Jennings
Co has such an index too. The genealogist over there is Denise Shafer. You
could even Email her at jlibrary(a)seidata.com and address it "Attention:
Denise Shafer." She's a great help to everyone. Plus, she suggests areas I
never thought of. I've gone through about everything both libraries have
and all that's on the internet. I guess I'll have to go to Indianapolis or
Ft. Wayne next.
