Mel, I don't know if you ever sent in a letter to help in the
fight with
Parliament to keep access open to post 1901 census records. The date is
extended so it isn't too late. We need all the help we can get. There
are two sites where you may obtain information, they are listed in the
following "forward". Perhaps if all our "American LETTs" wrote in it
would help to keep the channels opened so we may some day tie us all in
together. Lorene

To all, especially Non-Canadians with roots in Canada:
Many have downloaded the Non-Canadian Petition to use in helping
us obtain transfer of post-1901 census records to National Archives.
When Gordon Watts left out the name of my city (BRAMPTON) I wondered
how the postmaster would find me. I should not have worried -- to date
I have received both petitions and letters MINUS the name of the city.
My postal code is L6W 2R8 -- the "L6" designates the city, town or
village in
Ontario. The "W" is my section of the city. Add the street address,
which is
25 Crestview Avenue -- the mail has arrived safely, without the name of
the city. Frankly, I could not believe the first one that arrived!!!!
E-mails are still being accepted for Senator Lorna Milne, also letters.
Information may be found at two sites:
<
http://www.globalgenealogy.com/census/index.htm>
<
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html>
I will never doubt the Canadian postal system again - for delivery of
mail!
