Go to the Jennings County Library (see
http://www.seidata.com/~jlibrary/) .
They have an excellent genealogicial section. It's in North Vernon. They
have newspaper on microfilm, some obit records, lots of cemetery records.
The Scottsburg library in Scott county and the Seymour Library in Jackson
county are worth a visit as well as both have genealogy sections.

Subject: [INJENNIN] Library, Societies, etc. i n Jennings County? Ballard
We are planning a genealogical search in Jennings County,
Indiana, this coming week to search for information on the
Ballard family (John M. Ballard, who died in the mid-1800's in
Jennings County).
What genealogical "holdings" are available in Jennings County
in addition to the County Court House in Vernon? Is there a
local library that has a genealogy and/or local history
division? Are their historical and/or genealogical societies
that have a library?
When researching at the Jennings County court house, are there
any "tips" that we should know about prior to our visit?
