I need help trying to unravel Polly Osburn/Osborne, daughter of John
Osburn/Osborne and Nancy Robertson. Polly was born July 25, 1820 in the
Lusby's Mill area of Owen County, Kentucky. Her mother, Nancy, died
when she was about 5 years old, and her father then married Elizabeth
Fortner in Owen County in 1827.
John, Elizabeth, and Polly moved as a family to the Paris Crossing area
of Jennings County, Indiana, and they were all members of the Coffee
Creek Baptist Church. In 1858 John, Elizabeth, and Polly withdrew their
memberships from the Coffee Creek Baptist Church. I know John and
Elizabeth removed to live with John's daughter and son-in-law, Balaam
and Sarah Lett, of Monroe Twp., Howard Co., IN. However, I lost track
of Polly and I'd like to know what happened to her.
I know she was single in 1850 as she was still living with her parents
in Jennings County, Indiana and was listed as single. I found a
marriage record for her where she married a John Cox on March 8, 1852 in
Jennings County. I've been told she also married Dolph Wilson - where
and when? I need to know who that John Cox was, and I need information
on Dolph Wilson also. When Polly left the Coffee Creek Baptist Church
her name was listed as Polly Cox, but whether she was a widow or not is
unknown.
Can anyone help me with Polly?
