Hi listers,
Continue my long awaited discovery of my Nathaniel Brown's parents.
Might
have found a clue and need some assistance. Nathaniel b 1794 in RI (this
according to subsequent census records) is first noted in Sardinia, Erie
NY
in 1820 with wife, Eleathea Crocker Brown b 1797 in Clarendon, Rutland,
VT,
d/o Andrew Crowcker b 1775 Clarendon, VT and Anna Leland. Also listed
wer
first of five children, Ursula b 1818, probably in Sardinia, NY.
What is missing is info on Nathaniel between his birth in RI and his
parents,
up to the time he is on the 1820 Erie, NY census.
BUT WAIT...I've found a clue that might help solve my Brown brick wall.
I
believe it is this Nathaniel that is listed with a BERIAH BROWN (next
to, I
should say), in Holland Land Records(same date and location,.."Were they
buying the same land together?"). Now this Beriah is most probably from
the
Beriah Brown of MA/RI line. (the "other" RI Line).
A large portion of this line, to include a few Beriah's wound up in
Genesee
Co in early 19th century. And, there are a lot of Nathaniels in this
line, as
well as Julia Ann's, William's and Joseph's which were all children of
Nathaniel and Eleathea.
Now Nathaniel would have been just about 21 at the time of this purchase.
First, can anyone identify with this Brown family and make a connection
to
Nathaniel and second, can anyone from this Beriah line ID this Beriah
who
purchased land with this Nathaniel and if so, could he be his father.
The remainder of my line is below, which you all probably know from
memory,
seeing how I've posted a few times.
My main Brown line begins with Nathanial BROWN b 1794? RI? married
Eleathea
Crocker, d/o Andrew and Anna LELAND CROCKER, around 1818 in Erie or
Genesee
Co, NY They had Ursula b 1818, Julia Ann b 1820, Eleathea b 1822 d 1823,
William W b 1824 and my gr gr grandfather, Joseph b 1829 in McKean,
Erie, Pa,
married Rachel Ann Wilcox in Jennings Co, Geneva Township, IN. in 1850.
They
left IN sometime after that and had William N in TN? or IN in 1854,
Julia Ann
b 1856 in Warren Co Il. and Clark b 1858, also in Warren Co, Il.
William N, my gr grandfather married first, Ella? and had Ora m Gilkeson
and
Lillie who died early, both believed b in Taylor Co, Ia, wound up at the
land
rush in OK territories around mid to late 1890's and remarried Pearl
West b
Mo 1880, d/o Ongesby Peyton West b 1832 KY and Mary Elizabeth Sailor b
1852
in IN, parents from KY.
William and Pearl Brown lived in Kay Co, Tonkawa, OK and had Roy in 1902
and
twins Donald and Dorothy in 1907.
Donald married first Genevieve Morrison b Oct 8 1914 in Ft Smith Ark,
d/o
Thomas James Ferrill Morrison of Long Beach and Katherine (Kate) Breslin
b St
Louis.
Had Donald Reed Brown b 1938 Ada OK. Don remarried Juanita Carson and
had
Lisa Brown of Dallas. Don Brown married Sandra Hall Peckham of the
"original"
John Peckham of RI fame.
Appreciate any help.
Thank you and Kindest regards,
Michael Wayne Brown
