Surname: LONG, HICKS
-------------------------
LONG, Joseph aged 68 years, whose home was a little distance east of Vernon,
was struck by a passenger train on the JM&I Road on Thursday morning near
the Van Arnem farm and so horribly mangled that he died within an hour.
He was very deaf and did not hear the approach of the train. Coroner Hicks
held an inquest and rendered a verdict absolving the engineer from blame.
