Looking for the marriage of Hector PEOPLES to a "Patsy" LETT about
1815-1819...
My best guess is the marriage took place in Pendleton or Harrison counties of
KY, but the marriage may also have taken place in Owen or Scott county KY or
Clark, Jefferson, or Jennings Indiana.
Hector PEOPLES appeared on a tax list in Jefferson co, IN in 1816.
Hector purchased land in Jennings co (80a E 1/2 SW section 20 T5N R8E) 23 Oct
1817 (Jeffersonville Land Office). That part of Jefferson county later became
Paris Crossing, Jennings county, Indiana.

In the household are a male age 16-26, a male age 26-45; a female up to age
10, and a female 26-45.
Hector is enumerated between the households of Rebecca "Bena" (McKinney)
HOPKINS, and Samuel Hopkins. Two doors away is John HOPKINS (Brother-in-law to
Hector Peoples, son to Rebecca, and brother to Samuel).
Hector's estate records begin in Jennings co IN in 1838 with a document that
names his wife as Patsy, a son as John Francis PEOPLES, and John HOPKINS as
the guardian of John Francis PEOPLES. Also named is one Granville (Green)
WAINSCOTT as an heir by marriage.
John Hopkins married Zilphia LETT in 1814 (Pendleton co KY). Signing as
testators at the marriage were Patsy LETT, Isham LETT, Daniel LETT, and Balaam
LETT. These same five children were named on a Wilkes co GA deed in 1801 as the
children of Daniel LETT.
Patsy is a common nickname for the given name Martha.
Patsy LETT appears on the following list of charter members of Mussel Shoals
church in Owen co KY. On the fourth Saturday in October 1817, she was one of
29 members dismissed by letter from the Mountain Island church to become
charter members of the Mussel Shoals Baptist Church; Patsy's brother Daniel LETT and
his wife Mariah were also on that list.
In 1822 Patsy PEOPLES was listed as member of Coffee Creek church of Jennings
co IN (as were John and Zilphia HOPKINS, Balaam LETT, and Daniel LETT)
Jennings co IN deed record book A p 299 John HOPKINS, Joshua FOWLER, and
Jesse ROBINSON were listed as trustees of church Coffee Creek Baptist church 18
Feb 1825.
1835 John Hopkins, Zilphia Hopkins, and Patsy PEOPLES were among the members
of Coffee Creek Baptist church who left to form Coffee Creek Christian church
in Jennings county Indiana.
