Subject: [INJENNIN] Obit lookup for Mary Clarkson Wagner
I would like to know if there is an obit for Mary Clarkson Wagner
that
died in 1905 and is buried in Vernon Cemetery. She was born in Oct 1836.
Will pay for postage and copy. Thanks. Donna
{Donna,
My Waggoner tie in goes back to an Elizabeth Waggoner/Wagoner who married
Charles V Lee in Jennings Co, IN 9-December-1822 . They had 2 sons, John
Charles Lee and Richard H Lee. I descend from John Charles. He married
MaryC Neal and they had 3 daughters. Anna Liza who married a Rice, Eva Jane
who married a Grinstead and Emma Belle who married Albert Dalton Hinchman.
EmmaBelle had 4 daughters. Mary Oneta who married Oscar Isreal Hutton, Lida
whomarried Oscar Corya, Inez who married Dolph Dellinger and Thelma who
marriedPaul Bixler.
BELOW IS AN EMAIL THAT I RECEIVED IN 2004 from Larry Kinney ( a Lee
descendant)
Marilyn: Do you have information regarding the parents of Elizabeth Wagner
(or Waggoner)? As you know Charles V. Lee and Elizabeth are not my direct
line so I am not researching Elizabeth, but I noticed on the 1820 Jennings
Co., IN census a John H. Wagner listed close to Lewis R. Lee, Usual Lee,
etc. The listing had 1m<5, 1m5-9, 1m10-14, 1m60-69, 1f20-29, 1f60-69. It is
very unlikely that the older female is the mother of the two younger males
so this might be your Elizabeth (Waggoner) Lee and her sons John Charles and
Richard H. living with her parents in 1830. This is just a guess and maybe
you already have her parents, but if not, I thought this might be of
interest to you. Larry (Donna is this John H Wagner a part of your family?)
Here is another Wagner tidbit that I have:
Is this John Wagner a part of your family? John Wagner died at his
residence in this city Saturday evening, February 6, 1886, aged 76 years.
Mr. Wagner had been a resident of Jennings County since 1841 and of North
Vernon since 1863. For more than a year past he has been confined to his
house by reason of a fall. He was a good citizen, a kind and obliging
friend and he will be missed by many of our people. NV Plain Dealer
2-10-1886
Here is another tidbit:
Mrs.Henry Wagner died at her home in Vernon, Thursday, July 31 75 years.
She was the mother of Everett and Chapin Wagner and was an aunt of Marshall
Abe Thicksten of Seymour. Funeral at Vernon, Saturday. Jackson Co Indiana
Obit Index 1901-1902 #551 Seymour, IN..
Are you familiar with the Jennings Co, IN Newspaper Abstracts on line? In
the N Vernon Banner Oct 29, 1890 is nice article on Irby S Wagner when he
was
seeking reelection for clerk. Also in other news extracts Chapin's son Henry
being sick, Eva wife of Everett's death , Abram and wife of MR Montgomery
sister to Mrs. Chapin Wagner.. etc. You may have all of this info.I am
just recently looking into the Waggoner/Wagner side of my father's family.
Are these any of your Wagners?
Early land owners in Jennings were a Samuel Wagner 15-8-1838, Uriah
Wagner and John Henry Wagner all had property in Township 7 Range 8E..Samuel
was
inSec 13 and Uriah and John Henry in Sec 15..Uriah and John names both on
same land..
I know for sure that Henry Wagner of N Vernon who had a daughter Elsie that
never married is a part of my Waggoner/Wagner family. I 'think' it was the
1930 N Vernon,Jennings Co census where I found this..
Another tidbit on Waggoner, but do not know if he is related to my family.
May help someone else:
#550 also from the Jackson County Indiana Obit Index 1901-1902 Seymour, IN
Wggoner-Mead---Houston News. Mean Waggoner died Friday at this home about 3
miles SE of here. Age about 20 years. Wed Nov 5-R
I'll see what I can find on your Wagners. Marilyn Hutton
