Hi, I believe we are related, in a way. If this is the same Sidney brother
he had a brother named Lewis Butler. They were the sons of Sarah Miller
Butler and _______ Butler. She was widowed and remarried to my ancestor
William Lewis. Sarah Miller Butler Lewis and William Lewis came by river to
Indiana ca 1821 (as I recall) and settled in Jennings County.
Sidney and Lewis did not travel with their mother but went to either
Michigan or Illinois first (I need to look at my notes).
Sidney is buried in the Coffee Creek Baptist Church , see
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jlopp/coffeecreek.html
You will also see notes about the family there.
Lewis moved away but apparently Sidney stayed. I would love to correspond
with you and find out about Silas.
Be sure to check out the Lewis family information at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jlopp/ link on the left side
especially the interview with Mary Lewis Osterman.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jlopp/osterman.htm She talked
about the Butler brothers and the early times in Jennings County.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Loppnow
