I am searching for two Eastman Brothers in Jennings Co.who may connect to a
William Rutledge.
E. D. Eastman b 1810 NY wife Mary A. b. England in abt 1830
Three children six and under.
Buell Eastman MD b NY 1807
wife Elvra C. b IN 1808
daughter Elma J. b 1833 IN m. Thomas a. Bray 9 Nov 1850 Jefferson Co. IN had
one daughter and 24 Feb 1856 she m Kenneth Fletcher Patterson in Washington
Co. TX and had two more children.
She is living with Dr. Eastman and his wife in Travis Twp. Austin Co. TX with
her husband in 1860. She is called daughter.
Thus since they both E. D. and Dr. Eastman appear side by side in the 1860
and 1870 Census Austin Co. TX and both are in Jennings Co. before 1850 they
moved between 50 & 60.
Now for my question. Both families have young Rutledges living with them.
Justus,12 yr. old with E. D. and family and Jerrel 11 yrs oldwith Dr. Eastman
and family. They appear to be the youngest sons of William Rutledge who was in
Jennings Co. until 1846 and then is found on the 1850 Buchanan Co. MO Census
with the two boys mentioned and a number of older children. I found a mg. for
Wm to a Deantha Trindle in Jennings but she is not on the 50 census with the
family. So I am not sure.
Anything at all about any of the above would surely be appreciated. Family
stories have always illuded to the "Texas Cousins" The name are unusual and I
sure do wonder. Thanks for your time reading this. Ginny in Wyoming
