For anyone who might be interested in a little publicized Historical part
of
Southeastern Indiana. Next Saturday September 20th from 10:00 - 4:00 they
are
having "a gathering" at Eleutherian College which is Located in Lancaster in
Northern Jefferson County-this area was known as a main stop on the
underground railroad and for being a community with heavy Anti-Slavery
activities.
Some people will give talks on their ancestors who were among the members
of
the Neil's Creek Anti-Slavery society. The Eleutherian College was founded
in
1848 and will be open and displays set up for visitors to see. I have been
asked to bring down some of my research on area families and on doing
Family
Research on line. I am also taking some family heirlooms such as my GGG
Grandfathers gun he carried when he was in the Indiana Legion and was
involved in
defending the area during Morgan's Raid. Lancaster is on IN 250 just off
Hwy 7
between North Vernon and Madison.
