I don't mind sharing, but if they take my stuff then please give me credit
for it - I have done the very same thing - gone to see something that I
thought "was new" <smile> only to find what I had sent someone was
entered
on line. And the reason I knew this is that there is one name that I use a
different spelling for so if that spelling is used, then I know it was from
information I had sent someone with the promise of that person not putting
it on line "yet". Plus the fact that it is there, the persons involved
will not correct the information - not on this particular name but on
information they have used and especially since I do have the documents to
back up my dates/sources etc.

I once got a notification from Ancestry telling me that there was new
information on the family lines I was researching. So I paid a fee to view
this "new" information. What I found was that Ancestry had harvested all of
the information I had posted on Rootsweb. Rootsweb ha s been purchased by
Ancestry . So I paid to get my own information. I was not happy and t hat
was the last time I will spend any money on Ancestry stuff . Ancestry did
not ask my permission nor offer me any financial reimbursment for using and
selling my information.

I don't expect the large sites like Ancestry to give out everything free.
They do give some. They do have a lot of expenses for finding and posting
their information. I have no problem in making corrections to their
site.
Some of the census material was really bad at first. You have to "do"
genealogy to know the tricks, right? I have done my best to leave a
clearer
path for those that come behind me. I don't regret it one bit.
