Bob;
Thanks for reminding me of the microfilm records at the Jefferson
County Library in Madison, but I do so love to go and heft those old books
looking for the names and dates. I will admit to complaining about how heavy
they were but I promise never to complain again if any are salvaged. The
original will and marriage books in the circuit court clerks office are the ones
I am most worried about they were right under the dome where the fire came
through the roof. There were a few civil court records up there also, I
got quite a bit of information on a court case in the mid 1800's for a friend
last year from one of them. I am going down next week (an already planned
vacation) so hope to see what I can find out first hand.
Do you know if any of the marriage records were on microfilm?
