Ruth,
I understand your desire to defend yourself, however, airing it on the
county lists was your choice.
A Rootsweb search engine will not work on any site except one hosted at
Rootsweb.Ancestry.com. There are several very good and free search engines
available that can be set up in less than an hour. INGenWeb requires you to
update the email link to the state coordinator within 1 week. This was
brought up on the required list for all Indiana County Coordinators several
times. I personally asked you to update it. After 12 years of experience
at this you should be able to do that in less than 5 minutes. I don't think
it was too much to ask and I gave you way more than 1 week to correct it. I
have been receiving complaints about you not updating the sites for 2 to 3
years. This is not acceptable.
Submissions made by others to a county site, stay with the project unless
the contributor (Bob Scott) refuses use of them. You do not own the
copyright on submissions no matter what your website states.
I do hope that you rebuild your site for the sake of researchers. I just
regret that it has taken removing you from the project to light a fire under
you.

State Coordinator INGenWeb Project

Wow, I wrote my previous message before reading all that has been written
tonight. I so take exception as to how Sheila portrays how things happened.
I have tried to avoid putting it here. I cannot believe this. How did
something so good turn in to something so ugly.
We took the site down on Sunday, because that was the day I learned that my
site was no longer worthy to be a part of the INGenWeb. INGenWeb did not say
a word to me. I soon learned I had been replaced a month earlier, and with
no notification. Accused of broken links (show me a site that doesn't have
them), the search engine not working (that was RootsWeb's search engine
which I had no control of). I was in the process of moving it over to
MyIndianaHome site so our search engine would take care of it. They said I
had taken my site down. So, not true. I had told the state coordinator we
had gotten a new computer and was transferring files, and also Brad was
working on a content management system to better organize the site, and make
it have interaction capabilities. So, it may have been intermittently
offline during the weekend. I received no message from the state
coordinator except one during the summer that was cold, and nasty. Nothing
since, except the IM message when I told her the above re: working on the
web site. And, I was working on bios for the Grant County INGenWeb site too.
I could say more here, but please understand how upsetting this is to me. I
thought I was doing a good thing...... my heart is so heavy, I have to
stop. I did not want to do this here. I had no intention of leaving the site
down. What would you do? I had no idea what was going on. They did not
notify me, and have not written one word to me.
