Dear Michelle Phillips,
I am researching the surname Lawhead. I saw your entry for Isabelle Lawhead
who married George Washington Phillips. I was wondering if you had any more
information of her or her family.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello Deborah:
I received your Msg. with interest as I have had very little luck with
the name of Lawhead. I found my Great Great Grandmother (Isabella) in Newton
Illinois. After my GGGrandfather Washington Phillips died in 1888 in Jasper
County, Illinois, Isabella remarried an Israel Ruby. On the marriage return
dated 9/4/1890 she stated that she was born in Pittsburgh, Pa to a John
Lawhead and a Massie Young. At this time she was 61 years old.
At the time she married my GGGrandfather, Washington Phillips, they were
in Jefferson County, Indiana. And they married in January of 1852. I found
this record in Madison, Indiana. From there they went and lived for some time
in Hendricks County, Indiana before leaving after 1880 and going to Jasper
County, Illinois.
Before their marriage I find her on the 1850 Census, in Graham Township,
of Jefferson County, Indiana living with a Thomas Evans (22) and a
Leonissiaum (20) (I really can't make out the spelling). He was a gunsmith.
Maybe his wife was her sister????(Just a guess)
That's about all I know of her or her roots. If I can help, let me know!
