my mailing address is 105 heather glen blvd., kathleen, ga. 31047.
kathleen is a suburb of perry! Well, we're about 20 miles south of
macon and perry is a great little place, home of former sen. sam nunn
and WWII gen courtney hodges. enuf of that.
Thot you had the info on the murder. it's in my book. anyway victim
was ancil phillips, son of baily phillips, gson of philomen Jr. and
gggrandson of your old philomen. ancil b. 1898, dated a girl in or near
lexington, ind. On march 27, 1916, he was shot and killed. bur.
lexington cemetery. On march 5, the scott co. journal & chronicle
reported that "judge craigmile in his instructions to grand jury
ordered full investigation of the murder as soon as possible."
coroner ruled that hardy robison had shot ancil with a 25 calibre
pistol.
apparently robison, who'd also dated the girl, fled. ancil's father,
Baily, was a very quiet religious guy but always kept a loaded shotgun
in case robison should ever reappear.
the scott county relatives still tell this story. baily was
considered my relative, that is, it certainly appears as if your
philomen and my thomas H. were brothers.

Hello John:
I was very glad to receive your reply. I love the
quickness of E-mail
and I am sure you will too. If you like I will mail
you a copy in print of my
file (I need your new mailing address) which
includes obituaries, which I
have concentrated on these past few months. It seems
like they tell the story
of the person so much more in detail in some
instances.
As of this date I have NOT been able to tie Thomas
H. and Philomen
together but really have not tried to hard. Maybe
sometime in the future I
can put a little more effort into it. I will try and
respond to your
questions as best as I can.
<< have you made any progress in linking these
old-timers together? >>NO
<<Also you'll remember that one of your Phillips's
was murdered in
southern Indiana (shot by jealous rival), and that
my present cousins
there consider that group as kin to ours, but nobody
knows how.>> Boy I would
like to know about this, who, when, where!!!!!!
<<Was James W. buried with first or second wife?>>I
don't remember either but
have a lot of pictures of the tombstones so, but
haven't assembled them yet,
I will go back and try to find one.
Well, until later once again thanks for helping me
out and THANK YOU for
writing your books about the Phillips line. I would
only hope I can help
someone else in their search for their roots.
