Hi again,
I have to tell you - my Grandpa, Gilbert Pecar, who was born in Milton,
Trimble County KY, loved his homeland more than any other person I ever knew.
Yet during the depression he left Kentucky and came here to Michigan, to look
for, and found work - and my grandma. Here they remained, but he went back
often. I think that is really where he left his heart.
Grandpa was quite an artist, and I have to tell you, as you all talked about
Hanging Rock - Grandpa painted that because it was a favorite place of his -
and I have his art work. He also painted several other special places in
MAdison and Trimble.
When he died in the mid-1980's they played "My Old Kentucky Home" at his
funeral - he loved it very very much, and it is thru the power of his love
for his homeland, that I know I am driven to discover more about our family.
When you mentioned Hanging Rock , I just had to share this with you,
Thanks for the memory jog!
Maggie
