Greetings all,
I am tracking down a new lead pertaining to the true identify of my ggf,
known as William Henry Harrison (Sr.) (1846-1916). He is my "brick
wall".
A new bit of information recently received by a cousin stated that two
Harrison brothers had run away from home in PA by way of a river boat
down the Ohio. One brother fell off of the boat, was hit by the paddle
and was presumed drowned.
If my ggf was the surviving brother, he arrived in Clark Co, IN sometime
prior to 12-Dec-1863, for I have found a record of his enlistment into Co
"M", 13th Regiment of the IN Vol Cavalry on that date.
My query to any and all of you would be for your help in locating any
record of a reported drowning sometime prior to Dec, 1863, which listed
the name of the deceased as Harrison.
Yes, this is a stab in the dark, but it surfaces as the best unanswered
possibility I have right now for ANY identification of the parents of
this person, and hence the parents of my ggf also.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
My ggf must have liked the Clark and Jefferson Co, IN area because he
lived out his life there, having died in North Madison and being buried,
with his wife, Lydia Stoner (1842-1924) and one daughter, Malinda F.
Gordon (1869-1943) to follow, in Fairmount Cemetery, (North) Madison,
Jefferson Co, IN. The sexton was kind enough to send me pictures of all
three of their grave markers. Thank you once again, Wilma Champion!
While you are reading, I am searching for additional information on
Malinda also.
