For those planning to visit the Genealogy Room in the Clerk's Office, at
the courthouse, you should know that the room is closed due to
elections. It is being used to store the absentee votes. The room will
be available again after sometime in late May, after they receive their
report back from the state. This also means that if you write to request
a record that is located in the Genealogy Room, you will have to wait
for an answer until after the elections and reports are complete.
Another option is to write to the Madison-Jefferson County Public
Library for a copy, as many of the records are on microfilm, although
