I am hoping to locate someone that has a copy of the pamphlet published in
August or September 1882 on the 70th Anniversary of the Carmel Church. It was
called the "Sketch of Carmel Church".
I went to the Jefferson Co. Library and made copies of the first part of the
"sketch" which was published in The Madison Courier on 24 Aug 1882. The
article mentioned the remainder would be published the following week; however,
the next week's article stated the following:
"The 'Sketch of the Carmel Church,' the first part of which we have
published (intending to give the remainder this week), is in the hands of our job
printers, and as the friends most interested have determined to print it in
pamphlet form, the concluding part will not appear in the columns of THE MADISON
COURIER at present. The sketch is a most readable one, and the good people
of Carmel have done wisely in concluding to preserve so valuable a history in
neat pamphlet shape."
I am hopeful that someone knows of this pamphlet and is willing to share a
copy with me that will be placed at the library and the historical society.
Thanks!
Karen Phillips
