About BRONNER, etc. I was born in 1926. We lived in Washington Twnshp.,
Clark County, IN.. This was on what is now State Road 62, 1/2 a mile south
of the Jefferson/Clark County Line. Tom Bronner and his wife Clara (and their
daughter Rhoda and her husband Ray James) lived on the west side of that Rd.
62 and we lived on the east side. Tom. I waited for the school bus at their
home. I attended his funeral. It was in the summer; I'd guess ...June. The
service was on a front lawn, and there was ice, in a pan, beneath the casket
during the interval when my parents "sat up with" the body.
After I grew up, I took Ray and Rhoda to the gravesite more than once. I
am sure the dates on the stones (near Hanover) are correct, or Rhoda would
have mentioned it.
Clara did marry George Royce, and they lived in New Washington.
After Rhoda died, I took care of Ray and I adminstered his estate when he
died.
Ray and Rhoda James are both buried at Crown Hill in New Washington.
I have no idea why there are no death records of the deaths of Tom and
Clara.
Tom was a bootlegger; he had served "time" in prison . But he died in Clark
County, in an automobile accident, on Tunnel Mill Hill, outside of
Charlestown, Indiana.
Clara's father was named "Jude Rose," I believe. I have visited his
gravesite, also.
Are you related? More likely, you are the person interested in cemeteries
with whom I corresponded a few years ago. That is such a beautiful cemetery.
I live in Scottsburg, half an hour from there. Thelma Hogue; 904 Lakeview;
Scottsburg, IN 47170
