Another source says 1795 (I need to see the original to see what the year
really is). Does anybody know if John's mother's name was Elizabeth?
Note: Montgomery Co. KY formed 1796 from Clark Co. KY.

In regard to your search of a marriage in KY you need to go that that KY
county and check with the Historic Soc. and or County Clerks offic in regard to
the marriage cert, or bond or whatever they have on record for that persons
document. You also need to keep in mind that there was a Civil War between the
date of the marrieage you have in question and now. Many of counties had
distruction of court houses and/or city record holders during the CW. I don't mean
to discourage you but those are the facts. Unless you know of someone that
was able to find the varification of that marriage that can give it to you. I
have research on going in KY and have had stumbling blocks of this sort.
Fortunately there are counties that was not burned out by the actions in the CW
and that can only be learned by contacting the counties in question.
