I need some info please.
I was in Clark Co., last Thursday; and did some research, but not too
much before the library closed.
I found a John BEST at a meeting July 12 1860 of the GERMAN REFORMED
CONGREGATIONS church, Jeffersonville from the chapter XXVIII Clark Co.,
History by Baird.
Again, I found a John BEST in 1905, same book page 359, at a meeting
concerning the Old Ladies Home.
Could someone tell me, does anyone still have the holdings for the
church records, where they
might list the families who were members, and where they lived?
I'm still trying to find information on James BEST, b. 1811/12 Clark
Co., IN; I'm wondering if
this could be Old James' son, John. My John's middle initial was N.
According to an 1850 census when old James was married to a Sarah (her
children went by the
surname of SUTTON); all children are listed with their initials. I'm
supposing this J.N. who was
3, at the time of the census, his name was John; and is possibly the son
of old James.
My gggrandfather's name was also James, middle name Thomas; but his
middle initial isn't given
on this census. This is how the census goes:
447/477 James BEST 38 M ship carpenter 800 (property)
Sarah BEST 39 F
James BEST 7 M
J. N. BEST 3 M
L.J. BEST 17 F
Ann BEST 18 F
M. E. 10 F
C.E. BEST 8 F
M.F. Sutton 10 F
J.A. Sutton 9 F
Are there any old school records, church records, etc., in Clark Co.,
which could tell me what
their real names are?
Sincerely,
Melanie
