Good Morning,
I would like to have some input on a new feature provided
by RootsWeb. They host the GenWeb mailing lists, including
this list and also the GenConnect Boards (Querys, Bios, and
Obits in our case).
The "GenConnect boards can now be 'gatewayed' to mailing
lists. When a board is gatewayed to a mailing list, every
message posted to the GenConnect board will be forwarded
to the corresponding mailing list.
The message sent to the list will contain the URL of the
specific post to allow the list subscribers to respond
directly to the message. In this manner, gatewaying will
enable more effective communication between the mailing
lists and the GenConnect boards."
I see this as somewhat redundant, but it has its advantages.
And since, it will effect you as a Jefferson County mailing
list subscriber, I am going to go by what the majority of
those who respond to this message say. This is only a
feature offered by RootsWeb, it is our choice as to
whether or not we use it.
