I have been chatting with Randi from INMONROE list and we really see
some problems with the Gateway setup.
Randi came up with some good points......
1) inappropriate posts from GenConnect would end up going to the
list.....unless the board was monitored by Ruth??? or someone...and I am
sure no one has time to screen everything.
2) Randi also pointed out that if something is posted to the list, then
to GenConnect......it would end up coming back to the list again.
3) If you want to know EVERY post that is going to a GenConnect board,
at the bottom of the page is: "Subscribe -Want to receive automatic
e-mail notification of EVERY new post? Simply provide your e-mail
address below to join the list! "..........I know I DON'T want to have
EVERY new post coming to me!....but if you do....just Subscribe to that
board.
That's my two cents worth. Linda Jenkins Wensel

Subject: [INJEFFER] Gatewaying Boards and Mailing List?
I would like to have some input on a new feature provided
by RootsWeb. They host the GenWeb mailing lists, including
this list and also the GenConnect Boards (Querys, Bios, and
Obits in our case).
The "GenConnect boards can now be 'gatewayed' to mailing
lists. When a board is gatewayed to a mailing list, every
message posted to the GenConnect board will be forwarded
to the corresponding mailing list.
The message sent to the list will contain the URL of the
specific post to allow the list subscribers to respond
directly to the message. In this manner, gatewaying will
enable more effective communication between the mailing
lists and the GenConnect boards."
