Subject: [INJEFFER] Coatney/Courtnry, McIntosh, Selgue
I know this is a long shot but thought I would give it a try. My GG
Grandfather Archibald Coatney is rumored to have died in Jefferson County,
Indiana about 1875. Possibly at the home of one of his 18 children. I know
one of his sons Nashville Coatney enlisted as a private in the 13th Indiana
Inf.,co D on 6/19/1861. His residence was listed as Jefferson
County,Indiana. Nashville did not return home after the war and I do not
know what happened to him. Most of the other children lived in Scott, Clark,
Decatur, Floyd, and Harrison County areas. Archibald was known to go by the
name Courtney early in his life and Coatney in the later years. He married
three times. First to Mary McIntosh about 1807 in Estill County, Kentucky.
Next to Madilla McIntosh (I believe a sister of Mary McIntosh) in January
1833. She died before 1849 in Jefferson County, Indiana. And third to
Catherine Ann Selgue on October 21, 1849. Catherine was born about 1820 a
daughter of James Selgue and died after!
1870 in Jefferson County, Indiana. If anyone has any information on
this
family I would like to hear from you. Thanks in advance for your
considerations. Don Coatney
