William Rinehart Wiebusch (1875-1942)
OBITUARY: "In Memoriam...William Rinehart Wiebusch, son of David and Sofia Wiebusch,
was born at Willowdell, Ohio, Oct. 19, 1876, aged 65 years, 2 months, and 25 days.
He spent his early life on a farm in the community where he was born and secured his
education in the rural school and the Lutheran parochial schools of the community. He
received his training in the cathescism and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age
of twelve and remained faithful to his church and his Lord all through the years.
On Mar. 8, 1898, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Amanda Greer of the
Willowdell community. To this union were born nine children, Mrs. William Andrew, Modoc,
Ind.; Esther and Oscar at home; Mrs. Russel Cox, Mrs. Raymond McClung, and Mrs. Wendell
Iliff of Portland; Pvt. Orville Wiebusch, Sheppard Field, Texas. Two children died in
infancy. There are fourteen grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters also survive.
They are John and Henry Wiebusch, Greenville, Ohio; Mrs. Wm. Stiefel, Covington, Ohio, and
Mrs. Mary Faust, Piqua, Ohio.
For many years he engaged in farming near Willowdell, Ohio. In 1917 he with his family
moved to Portland, Ind. where he spent the remainder of his life.
Until his health broke, he was engaged the greater part of the time in factory work.
In the fall of 1930 his health failed and he was a semi-invalid until his death ended his
suffereing.
With a wonderful spirit of love and patience his family and faithful companion cared
for him during his last years.
Perhaps due to the added burden of his care, his companion was called home Feb. 1,
1939. And since then in a very commendable way, his children assumed complete
responsibility for his care.
In the days of his active life he was a good neighbor, honest, and a hard worker. This
is the memory of him that we wish to treasure in our hearts and carry with us."
(On the back is printed Tennyson's poem "Crossing the Bar".)
[Going by the children's birth locations, sometime between 1908 & 1911, the family
moved from Darke Co., to Shelby Co. By 1917, the family was living in Jay Co., IN.]

The evidence of God's presence far outweighs the theory of His absence.
