Hello everyone! We have a new volunteer on the site with biograhphical and
history books, as well as his own very large gedcom file garnered from his
own Jay County research. You can reach him through the site at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~injay ...go to the lookup page and there he is!
Welcome, John and thanks so much! There are a few more photos up in the
scrap book! Its getting very popular and I really must re-vamp it...one of
these days! Thanks also to those of you who offered to proof read the
cemetary transcriptions when they are ready. Our tireless volunter Eloine
Chesnut is working away at scanning the typed records generously sent to us
by the Jay County Genealogy Society... there are over 10,000 names and she
is still not done, having saved the BIGGEST cemetaries for last! I have
put a few pictures up from my recent trip to Jay County, just little views
of the landscape, at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~injay/trip.htm .
I don't know if I told you all, but while I was there I went through the
very early criminal records of Jay County. I must tell you, while I did not
find any of MY ancestors (phew!) the records were quite fascinating! If
there are any KNAPP descendants out there, you come from some colourful
folks! I wonder how many people over look criminal records as a source? If
I get back, I'd love to go through them in more detail!
Amy
