Hello everyone!!
It has been awhile since I've written. I haven't done much over the
summer as far as genealogy is concerned (I have an 11 year old, a 7 year
old, and a 1 year old). LOL
I am trying to get back into it, and it's a little hard to do when you
can't remember exactly where you left off, plus I lost a lot of
information after a computer malfunction.
Enough about my woes, and to the real point of my letter. My 3 great
grandparents, William and Mary (Margaret) Hammond lived in Jay County
for sometime, and I am having a really hard time finding info on them.
I believe that their son (my 2 great grandfather) Solon C. Hammond may
have been born there. I believe that they are buried there at Lancaster
cemetery. I cannot find obituaries for them. I am a member of the Jay
county Genealogy Society, and Mr. Rick Hambrock has been very kind to
try and find obituaries for them, but with no luck. I was just
wondering what churches were near them, and what church records might be
available for me to search. I have no clue what religion they would be,
but they lived in Jefferson Township, Jay County, Indiana between 1850
and 1860.
I have also been wondering if anyone knows of a migration that may have
occured after 1860 to Southern Missouri/ Northern Arkansas? Any help
would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Tammy Pursley
