OK,so here is my question to ponder: I am told I have a ancestor, Loyd L. Fuller - One
"L" is the correct spelling for him, (possible born a Ball) who was adopted, who
was born around 1890 in Jay county Indiana, My question is how was the system of adption
set up in those days? now a days there it is a process and a system -but then laws were
looser and much less kind to the children, there was no welfare system, so if a childs
parents died, who decided where they would go? Who qualified an orphan? Whre there any
homes for wayward children in or near Jay county? I am thinking only big cities would have
had orphanges, so maybe Muncie? (where I am also told he was born )What do all of you
think? I am just trying to think this whole thing out, because I have a very confusing
story, this man has at three birth years he put on differing public records and claims to
know nothing of his parents except they are dead, he never makes mention on anything of
who raised him, and I have !
several stories that go no where such as being born in a flood, mother dying in child
birth, and possible him being a twin, who died in child birth- I do not even know if these
stories do connect to him or not, can anyone give me any pointers on how I could possible
begin to find out anything about this man in the situations I have described above. I will
take any and all suggestions.
thank you
Rachel
