Here is a continuation of the newspaper article about Redkey.
Leading Manufacturing City
in the Indiana field. Already manufactures and capitalists are being are
being attracted with the advantages of Redkey as a place in which to make a
safe investment. Among these are the New York Spoke Factory, which has
purchased ground and at once will begin the erection of buildings for their
machinery, which will be of the latest improved pattern. This work will
give employment to a large number of hands.
James Boyce, a capitalist of Muncie, has purchased a large tract
of land adjoining the corporation, and is now platting out an addition to
the town.
The lumber has been purchased and the contract let for the
building of a fine depot on the Panhandle railroad, to be situated near the
crossing of the above road, and the L. E. & W.
Other buildings and several large factories are contemplating
the purchase of plants in this enterprising town, and a few short months
will find it filled with busy factories, turning out thousands of dollars
worth of their products.
The Railroad Facilities
Are unsurpassed, being situated on the main line of the Chicago, St. Louis &
Pittsburgh (Pan Handle) Railway, which, with its many leased lines makes it
an easy matter to reach any point of importance in the Middle States over
its net work of roads. The Lake Erie and Western is a young rival of the
Pan Handle, but by no means a weak one. This road has recently been placed
on a solid and substantial basis, and now ranks among the best roads in this
section of the country. These two competing lines ensure low rates of
freight to all points, east, west, north or south. Manufactures will also
find
The Business Interests
of Redkey unsurpassed. We find every branch of business well and ably
represented by men of snap and energy, who have "stood the storms" and are
now on the high road to prosperity. Among the leading firms represented in
this busy little city, we find
The Bank Of Redkey
occupying an important position. This institution was incorporated in 1886,
by N. Cadwallader and george N. Edger. The individual responsibility of
these gentlemen is $100,000, and as they have had considerable experience in
the banking business, their patrons can rest assured of being served with
the utmost care and safety. They do a general banking and exchange
business; allow interest on time deposits; buy and sell foreign and domestic
exchange, and use every endeavor to serve all their patrons with reference
to their best interests, consistent with legitimate banking. This house
will at all times be found ready to help in any move whereby the town may be
benefited.
More about the businesses of Redkey to follow over the coming days.
