There should be a copy or record at the county health
dept in the county they died in. I had a genealogist
help me get records from Jay and Randolph co.
Librarians are a good source for obits. They help do a
lot of research. The fee is very small.
Good luck

Would someone know when death certificates began to
be issued in Jay County?
A kind member has shared church death records with
me, I was wondering if
death certificates as such would have been issued in
1896 or 1897? Would
there be a county record book at least? I have seen
similar for Ohio
counties in late 1800's, listing parents of
deceased, cause of death, etc,
and wondered if they were available in Jay County.
If they are available in some form, how would I go
about obtaining them? Who
to write to and fees involved?
Interested in copies of death certificates or
county death records for
WAGNER, Peter d. 20 June 1897
and
WAGNER, Margaret, d. 29 September 1896 (Mrs. Peter
WAGNER)
Many thanks for your direction and help.
