Hi all. Today, I photographed the Civil War Discharges from the book at the courthouse in
Portland. There were approximately 70 of them. Now I need to get them transcribed so
they can be put on the webpage. As I get them transcribed, I will post them to the list.
Once they are all transcribed, they will be placed on the webpage.
Since I always have plenty to do, I am looking for volunteers to help transcribe these.
Volunteers need to have MS Word. I photographed these from the original book in the
courthouse. So.... for any volunteers, I will send you a few of these via email as
standard jpeg files, which anyone can open and view on their computer. I just did one of
these. Only took about 10 or 15 minutes to do.
I would ask anyone who would help with some of these to email me. I will send you some
instructions, along with a few of the discharges in jpeg format.
These discharges will be a big plus for the webpage. They usually give an age,
birthplace, and physical description. Also, they provide date of enlistment, disharge,
and unit the soldier served in.
