Did you get the email I sent that had Sophia's funeral home record and
listed all her children and where they were living when she died?????
I have information about Chris and Mary Hatmaker. They were members of the
Lutheran church and are listed in its records.
The Grange was a group started in the mid 1850's, kind of a farmers union.
It was political, Democrat I believe and would block vote for those
politictions who would support the farmers. They also served as a social
hub for their members. In addition, I believe they educated the members in
the best methods of farming.
The G.A.R. was the Grand Army of the Republic. It was an organization whose
members had to have served in the Civil War on the Union side of the
conflict. They meet in groups called encampments. Their group function was
somewhat similiar to the VFW and orther military groups today. I think the
one you mentioned was the group from SAlamonia. Each group chose the name
of a person killed in the war to call their encampment.
From the records of the St. James Lutheran Church, located in Salamonia,
Indaian.

Marion Co., Ohio
Hatmacker, Sophia was born 08-Jan-1873 in Madison Twp., Jay Co., Ind and

Mueller, Sarah, was born 16-Mar-1867 in Oberbern, Berks, Co. Pa. She was an
adopted child, Janurayr 1871
Here is some more information that may or may not be your family. The
reason I include it is because, the information was translated from the
German and was difficult to read at times., so I may not have translated
accurately.
From the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ft. Recovery, Ohio.
Britsch family
Troutwein, Chrisstine, 'nee Schaff Britsch was born 16-Feb-16-1846 in
Hessigheim, Besigheim Wurttenberg,
Britrosh, Friedrich, was born 04-Mar-1870 in Blindheim, Ober and Marbach
Wurttenberg
Britsch, Ros. Friedericke, was born 03-Mar-1873 in Bledebheim, Ober and
Marback, Wurtenburg
Christine was married first to Gottlieb Britsch who died 19-Apr-1873. She
married second to Gottlieb Troutwein on 09-Jun-1874
May 10, 1874, I found that Catharine Hatmacher attended church at the St.
James Church in Salamonia. This churchs attendance records go back to
September 1859, however, this is the first mention of any Hatmaker.
April 19, 1878 Christian Hutmacher and wife are listed as attending church
at St. James. Again on November 10, 1878, christian Hutmacher and wife. ,
Again, February 2, 1879 christian Hutmacher and wife., and April 11, 1879

Phylis,
Christian and Sophia moved from ohio about 1872. They bought the Jord
Denny farm
in
Jay County near to where Sophia's sister Mary and her husband
Chris
Hatmaker lived.
As they settled in, Chris joined the Greenhill Grange and the
Methodist
Episcopal
Church and the Henry McLaughlin G.A.R. Post. (Not sure what that is).
Hope
this
helps as well. Any info on these organizations would be wonderful!
Thanks again,
Michelle
